The coronation brought the week to a close, except for the ball to be held at the Peter Pan this evening, when the whole coronation is to be re-enacted. >" The sum of £10,000 hoped for has been exceeded, and in a speech prior to the •ceremony the Mayor, Mr. G. He spoke not only for the City Council, but also for the local mayors, their councils and all who had been connected with the relief of distress. Especially he thanked the queens, whose task, he said had not been particularly enviable. He appreciated their fine sense of citizenship. He also thanked Mr. D. D. McDonald. "Though naturally he is "being paid for what he. has done," added Mr. Hutchison, "I would not have taken his job for double what he is getting out of it."
