Plea of Canadian Wheat Interests. HEAVY NATURAL REDUCTIONS. • ■ (Received 1.30 'p.m.) WINNIPEG, August 11. With conditions in the prairies making quite certain of further heavy reductions in the wheat harvest, members of the exchange and growers are urging the Government to abandon the idea of placing Canada in the ranks of those nations pledging themselves to arbitrary acreage restriction.
Only a few officials of the Western Provinces advised the Government prior to the World Economic Conference in London, and that was when prospects were good for a 400,000,000-busliel yield, with wheat at 50 cents. All that is changed now.
