TRACK GALLOPS.

TRIALS AT ELLERSLIE. KILTOY/YN'S GOOD EFFORT. KING MARCH ALSO IMPRESSES. Trainers had the use of No. 1 grass track at Ellerslie this morning, the poles being 10ft out from the rails. The going was heavier than it has been for several weeks past antl in consequence times were not fast. No. 1 Grass. The first to work were Maiiawhenua and Arolia Mai, who ran five furloijgs in 1.8 4-5, the last three taking 41 2-ss. Manawhenua was going comfortably at the end. Over a similar distance Glenromney and Love Story took 1.11 3-5. Alpinus, Caliente and Deputy Ruler, after running their first two furlongs in 265, covered five furlongs in 1.8 1-5. Alpinus was iu front over the first,..two furlongs, but they were all together at the'end. Deputy Ruler did not seem at home in the -heavy going, but Caliente handled' it well. Hushing was given an easy six furlongs, which she ran in 1.29, and Lord Val averaged 15s to the furlong over a similar distance. Catoma did strong work on the hurdle track in the centre. King March beat Gay Cockade comfortably at the end of a round, which took 1.59 3-5. the last six furlongs taking 1.24 2-5. The Lackham — Morzonia filly beat Grant's Opal over three furlongs, run in 41 4-ss. Kiltowyn, with a lightweight up, went away from a standing start at the six-furlong post, and after traversing the first three furlongs in 39 3-ss, came homo in 1.20 2-5. This was a good gallop. Chief Cook strode over a round which occupied 2.7, Lady Pandora assisting him over the last half-mile which took 55 2-ss.

Malikill and the Surveyor gelding in G. Holland's stable strode over a round on the sand in 2.19 3-5. My Money and Gay Broney took 2.18 3-5 for the same distance. 'Dark Marble also did strong work on this track.

The two-year-olds, Sporting Song and Prince Abbe, sprinted a few furlongs, but were not after time. Both hit out very freely. , '

TAKANINI TRIALS

GREEK GOLD SPRINTS WELL. The middle grass track, with the poles 20ft out, was open at Takanini this morning, the going being fair. Gastronomy ran three furlongs in 425, doing his work well. Greek Gold and Tavern Knight, who was on the outside, covered half a miie in 52 l-ss, the former being a length in front at the finish. Alignment beat Speedmint over five furlongs by several lengths in 1.5, Speedmint s time being 1.8. The Paper Money—Killena colt did better than Haupere over two furlongs in 25 4-ss. Model Girl went a furlong from a moving 6tart in 12 2-ss. High Crest and Gallant Knight covered two furlongs along the back in 265. Diversion and : Gay Sheila were sent six furlongs, averaging about 14s to the furlong. A. Tinker has been engaged to ride Speedmint and Greek Gold, G. Walters The Hiker and Cherry King, H. Gilmer Phiakuo and J. Forsyth Tatyoon at the Pakuranga meeting.
