SNOW, HAIL AND RAIN.
CANTERBURY PHENOMENON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, this day. A meterological phenomenon occurred a short distance from the borough toward the'coast shortly before daybreak to-day. Two inches of snow fell over an area of a quarter of a mile square, while elsewhere in the neighbourhood heavy hail fell and in the borougH there was heavy rain, accompanied by vivid lightning and thunder. The storm [lasted about an hour.
