Terrific damage and heavy casualties following upon monsoon floods continue in India and Burma. In addition, in parts of Burma many villages have been completely razed.
Twenty-six people were drowned in the River Ganges near Ramnagar Fort, Benares. A ferry boat containing 30 persons, including 12 women, was caught in the swirling, floodjpfl waters and capsized.
Four of the passengers who grasped floating logs were saved. They included one of the women.
