FISHERMEN'S LUCK.
ESCAPED DROWNING,
TRIO IN CAPSIZED DINGHY.
THRILLING RESCUE EFFORTS,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, this day.
Three fishermen, Walter Myers, Alex-
ander Campbell and Alexander Ayres, narrowly escaped drowning near Wellington Heads yesterday afternoon. Their dinghy struck a submerged rock and capsized, throwing the three men into the water.
Myers clung to the upturned boat, and was washed up on to the shore. Campbell and Ayres managed to climb on to a rock, and stood there almost up to their waists in the water, running great danger of being washed from their precarious perch. In the meantime Myers managed to refloat, the dinghy, and with one paddle poled out to the rock and accomplished the task of rescuing his companions. A brother of Ayres, who had witnessed the accident from tlio shore, swam out to the launch in which the party Had proceeded to the heads. He reached the launch, but was una'blo to start the engine. He was rescued by Antonio Dellabarca, a well-known Eastbourne fisherman, and his three sons.
