ROCK BOTTOM
WHEN WAS TT REACHED'; SPIES'In a recent issue ... uie "Evening Post" there is published a graph prepared by Mr. C. W. Carroll, in which the fluctuations of a group of 43 representative Australian and New Zealand securities in late years are shown. From the figures quoted it would appear that the peak in prices of shares generally dealt with in New Zealand was reached in August, 1929, and the bottom .touched'in April of last year. In other words, the depression which commenced in 1930 definitely found rock bottom 15 months ago. Since that time recovery, though subjected to fluctuations, has been persistent. Progress has been accelerated in recent months with the rise in commodity prices as a backing.
