MINIATURE RIFLES.
LADIES' COMPETE FOR N.Z, TITLES.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Sunday. The South Island miniature rifle championship contests were held at Timaru yesterday. There was a record entry, a feature being the number of ladies competing. Three tied for first place in the championship. W. Bradshaw (Timaru), W. T. Taylor (Pleasant Toint) and h. Carlisle (Cashmere), with 159. In the shoot-off Taylor scored the possible, winning the championship. In the ladies' championship there was also a tie between Miss Taylor (Glen-iti) and Miss Greig (Claremont). The shootoff" was won by Miss Greig.
The South Island teams' championship resulted in a tic, Timaru A and Ford Motors (Christchurch) each bcoring 391. Glenavy A was next with 390. The winners are joint champions.
