The order of the Eastern Star held a social 011 Saturday at Renall Street, Ponsonby. The evening was spent in old-time, modern and Scottish dancing, the bagpipes supplying the music for the Scottish dancing. Supper was served and the social closed at 11 p.m. to the music of "Auld Lang Syne."

An old-time dance was held in the Waimauku Hall on Friday evening, in aid of St. Martin's Church: The music was supplied bv Mesdames Morrison and I. Levet. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mrs. Dorricott and partner. Supper was served by the members of St. Martin's social committee.

A party of young people met at the residence of Mrs. A.,Campbell, Wangauui Avenue, Heme Bay, on Saturday evening for a party given to Miss Esme • Campbell; . The rooms were bright with bowls of wattle and tall stands of Iceland poppies. A happy time was spent with games; dancing and music. Among the guests were: Mrs. M. Campbell, Misses C. In support of the United Services Queen; Miss Elizabeth Burges Watson, candidate. for the throne of the Prosperity Week Carnival, a dance was held in the pavilion of the Ngataringa Tennis Club, Stanley Bay, on Saturday evening. The queen's patriotic colours mingled with the colours of the club in the decorations. The guests were received by Mr. C. M. Browne, president of the club, and Mrs. Brownc> The ladies' committee responsible for the arrangements comprised Misses -Rund, Kindred and Bertrand. Among \hose present were: Mrs. H. F. W. Meikle, Mayoress of Devonport, Miss Elizabeth Burges Watson, Mesdames L. S. Bates, W. Lund, Misses Lewin, Johnstone, Emerali, McGrane, Hill (2), Coutts,' Aldridge, O'Leary, Dickie, Grinter.

The Overseas League bridge circle held a successful mah jong and bridge party in their clubrooms on Saturday evening in aid of the St. John Ambulance welfare fund.
