SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY.
FINE IN THE WAIKATO,

HAMILTON, this day.
Further charges of failing to close his shop and with employing an assistant on the Saturday half-holiday were preferred against Morris Stores and Motors, Ltd., in the Magistrate's Court to-day. Defendant pleaded guilty. F. Wilson, inspector of factories, said defendants employed *in assistant delivering groceries at Puketaha, and their shop was open within the meaning of the Act.
Mr. C. Speight, for the defence, said the offence was purely technical, and the firm felt that 1 the inspector had been unduly harsh in singling them out for prosecution. The magistrate remarked that defendant's action, after previous offences, savoured of defiance of the law. kext time lie would impose the maximum penalty. For employing the assistant on Saturday afternoon a fine of £•■( w.th costs was imposed, and 011 the other charge defendants were convicted and ordered to pay costs.
