An enjoyable afternoon was spent at the Farmers' tearooms 011 Wednesday in aid of the Mount Eden Hospital Auxiliary, when Mrs. E. C. Turner acted as hostess. Those present were: Mesdames E. C. Turner, G. Howard, N. Campbell, Duke Clayton, E. Rich, If. Todd, Hay, G. C. Andrews, Neil Campbell, D. Henderson, J. T. Price, J. C. DufTus, E. Webster, F. Yarten, G. S. Reid, Y. Graham, N. Campbell; hidden number, Mrs. Yaivten; consolation, Mrs. Harvey. • • • • An enjoyable programme was presented at a dance held by Court Maid Marian, ladies' branch, of the Ancient j Order of Foresters, irt the Foresters' Hall on Monday evening, an interesting part of the entertainment being the introduction of two new dances, which were enthusiastically adopted by the assemblage. Several visitor attended the function, tlioso courts of the fraternity represented being Edith Cavell, Nil Desperandum, Balmoral, Otahuhu, Newmarket, Te Ra and City of Auckland. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mr. Mardle' and Mr. Cunningham, the duo giving a very pleasing rendering of popular numbers, and an extra, was provided by Bro. White. » • • - ■» A happy time was spent in the Otahuhu Parish Hall on Monday evening, when a dance tfas held by the Otahuhu third intermediate grade Rugby team. During supper extras were played by Miss Jessie Webber. There were two Monte Carlo waltzes on the programme, the first being won by Miss Daphne Morgan and Mr. Ray Bennett, and the second by Miss Belle Bowling and Mr. A. North. The annual social of the Auckland Trained Masseurs' Association, which took the form of a flag bridge tournament, was held in the Oveaseas League I club rooms on Saturday. The lounge was tastefully decorated with bowls of Iceland poppies and ferns. In the supper room candles in tall candlesticks slied a subdued light on tables effectively decorated with berries. The committee responsible for the success of the evening were: Mrs. Minliinnick, Misses B. Morris, L. Montgomery, Ruth Bett, H. B. Ariell, Messrs. D. McPhee, A. -Bees George.and J. W. Gill (secretary). Playing at the winning table were Miss L. Morris and the Misses M. and S. Hay. Consolation prizes were awarded to Miss Early, Miss H. Gordon-Smith and Mr. H. Early. The girls of the Mercantile Auxiliary Club held their monthly luncheon yesterday, when letters from the St. John Ambulance were read, as was also a communication from the Mayoress iji regard to tlic children's party she is organising in connection with Prosperity Week. Members were pleased to meet Nurse Soden, who gave an interesting talk on the work of the district nurses of the >St. John Ambulance, conveying at the same time the thanks of • the nurses for the club's recent donation of jtsoap. The following were in charge of the stalls:—-Jumble, Mesdames Armstrong, Hellieur, Addison, Kelsey, Smith, McConnell, Hodder, Moore, and Misses Barnes and Addison; work stall, Mrs. Utting and Miss Cameron; home industries, cakes and vegetables, Mesdames Spencer and Barnes; sweets and drinks, Mrs. P. Freeman and Miss Peggy Webster; afternoon tea, Mesdamevi Hartman and Mitchell; book stall, girls' and boys' clubs combined. The evening's entertainment was provided by Mrs. Jarley's waxworks, a group of ladies from the Mothers' Club, Y.W.C.A., organised by Mrs. McConnell. An enjoyable bridge afternoon was held by the ladies of St. Aidan's guild and their friends at the residence of Mrs, F. Burbush, Lochiel Road, Reniuera, on Tuesday 'afternoon.
