RURITANIAN HOAX.

OBSEQUIES ENLIVENED. LONDON 1 ", July 23. A well-staged hoax enlivened the obsequies of tho World Conference when a "communique" was circulated to all delegates before the officials were able to confiscate the copies. The document had been manifolded on official paper and was identical with the conference communiques. It was headed: "Iluritanians delegation," and was dated April 1. It declared that whereas 30,000,000 unemployed need the essential commodities of life all nations of the conference agree to destroy the surplus stocks which might bo used for the starving peoples and undertake to increase tariffs where complete embargoes are impracticable. The communique concluded: "The unanimous decisions on phyto-pathologi-cal questions and the spread of the cocoa plant disease justify the resummoning of the conference for April 1, 1935." Tho hoax delighted tho conference whoso death-bed is surrounded with witty Continental caricatures of the forlorn Mr. Mac Donald weeping over his dying babe.
