ST. LUKE'S BEAT 'VARSITY.
COLLEGE AND SOMERVILLE WIN
The championship matches under the auspices of the Auckland Hockey Association at Remnera, on Saturday, aroused a lot of interest. The play throughout was fast, but the bumpy nature of the ground interfered with the .players' control of the ball. The senior matches resulted in a record goal crop being returned. St. Luke's, by six goals to two, defeated University': Somerville, mainly owing to cleverer stick work in the circle, accounted for Papatoetoe by six goals to three. Training College, in a whirlwind finish, snatched a win from North Shore by five goals to four.
