DEATH OF A. PATERSON. TVATCniNG CAME AT CARISBROOK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUXEDIN, this day. The death occurred suddenly at Carisbrook on Saturday afternoon of Mr. Alexander l'aterson, one of the best known and most popular of Otago footballers. Mr. l'aterson had been a regular attender at games at Carisbrook since he retired from active participation in Itugby a little over ten years ago, and it was while he was watching the sub-union's match this afternoon that his end came suddenly. A stalwart of the Zingari-Kiehmond Club for many years, and a member of the club when it won the premiership in 1913, Mr. Paterson was a splendid forward whose sterling plar was recognised by the Otago and New Zealand selectors. He represented Otago continuously from 1003 to 1014, and then a train in 1920 and 1021, 43 occasions in all. He plaved for the South Island in 1908-09-10-11, and for New Zealand in the second and third Tests against Harding's AngloWelsh team in 1908. He was a member of the New Zealand team that toured Australia in 1910.
