CHRISTCHURCH HUNT.

POLYDORA'S BRABAZON. HURDLES TO PUNCHESTOWN. ROSSFERRY TAKES PLATE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Stnr.") CHRISTCHUECH, Saturday. The Christcliurch Hunt Club's Steeplechase meeting was held at Ricearton today, when tho weather was line, with a strong easterly wind, and the attendance was only fair. Tho course was in pood order. Totalisator investments amounted to £7793. There was no meeting last year. Broadfleld was a slightly better favourite than Lancer in the Lawford Steeplechase, the field for which was reduced to four through the fioat bringing Burglar from Wa.«hdi'kc breaking down. Broadficld jumped badly early in the race and Nine of Spades took up the running, with Lancer last. Nine of Spades led past the stands the first time from Broadficld and Dukla. Dukla fell at tho sod wall the second time round. Nine of Spades was clear of BroadfiSld when he fell at the second to last fence, leaving Broadfleld to come in by himself. Nine of Spades, after a good many efforts, was recaptured, and Turner remounted him to complete the course for second 11101103'. Some Big Dividends. Agile was quickest to break the line in the Aylesbury Trot, but with a furlong covered Grand Finale went to the front with Agile, Yankccland, Blandford and Lone Derby in close attendance. Turning into die straight, Agile took charge, but half way down the straight ho was headed by Grand Finale, who went on to win by two lengths from Agile. Lone Derby was three lengths away, with Blandford fourth. Grand Finale paid a big win dividend, and Lone Derby a big place dividend. F. A. Berry, the driver of Happi, struck tho rails during the race and was dislodged from tho sulky. He received a severe gash on one of his arms, exposing the bone. The Favourite Left. Top Bank was favourite for the Maiden Stakes, but was hopelessly left at the start. There was little between Lady Zephyr and Cherry Queen at the half distance, with Imitator coming fast and Glandovey also handy, imitator just failed to catch Cherry Queen. Silk Arrow was a length away, third, a neck in front of Glandovey. Cherry Queen carried £35 10/ and £G2 10/. She is owned by E. C. McDcrmott, the trotting trainer. Imitator is a five-year-old gelding owned by Sir Charles Clifford, and was having his first race. Third Successive Victory, i Hounslow and Punchestown were tho popular selections for the Longbeach Hurdles. King Comet, who was having his first run over hurdles, went to the front at the start, and set a merry puce from Huntley. Crossing the top King Comet was clear of Huntley, with Advance Camp, Morona and Punchestown moving up, and Nightcap next. Tentcall fell here. Huntley was first into the straight from Advance Camp and King Comet, with Punchestown and Nightcamp next. Neither Huntley nor Nightcap jumped tho last hurdle well. Advance Camp then took charge, but Punchestown, finishing strongly on the rails, beat him by two lengths. Huntley was a similar distance away, third, with Nightcap fourth. This is Punchestown's third consecutive win in nine days. A Fine Effort.

Silver King and Grecian Prince declined their engagement in the Brabazon Handicap, but the field of 16 that faced the starter contained 11 Winter Cup candidates. The favourites were Polydora (£IOB and £90), Cranford (£O7 and £103 10/), and Hurlingham ( £76 10/ and £80). Polydora drew the rails, which is not in her favour. She got out well, but could not go the early pace, dropping back and back "until she was fourth to last at the half-mile. Cranford undertook the pacemaking, and at the half-way he led from Hurlingham, Cottesmore, Spoon and Martian Chief. Cranford was first into the straight from Cottesmore, >SP° on > Hurlingham, Martian Chief and Chrysology. Once they had straightened up Polydora put in a great run on the outside. Spoon and Martian Chief drew out iuside the distance, but Polydora, continuing her fine effort, got up to win by half a length from Spoon, with Martian Chief a head away third. Cottesmore, Cranford, Shatter and Hurlingham were next. Spoon did not survive the first forfeits, but the other six horses named are all acceptors for the Winter Cup in which Polydora has 8.8. Polydora has won seven races this season, the last four in succession. She was ridden by M. Kirwau, who completed a winning double.

Hunters' Plate. In the Hunters' Plate, Broadfield took up the running from Trisox and Rossferry, with Pharaoh last. . This was the order to the straight, where Rossferry assumed charge. Pharaoh came through on the rails, but he could not overtake Rossferry, who won by half a length. Trisox was two lengths away, third, and Broadfield last. An trnruly Horse. While at the barrier for the start of the Kennels Hack, Jeremy twice unseated his rider, D. Cotton, who had a heavy fall the second time and was unable to ride, Jeremy taking no part in the race. Tea Garden made all the early running, and was first into the straight from Manetho, Verdcn, St. Joan and Doiran. In an exciting finish Doiran came fast to win by half a length from Manetho, with St. Joan two lengths away, third. Helen Gold finished well in fourth place. Favourite Breaks Up. Warboat, third and second favourite respectively on the machines, led all the way in the Kirwec'Trot, and won by a good length from Preface. Jimmy de Oro was a length away, third. General Wrack was favourite each way, but broke up at the start and was never dangerous. Later results: — BRABAZON HANDICAP of OOsovs. Seven furlongs. I—2—POLYDORA, 8.13— M.
