ROTORUA HUNT MEETING

FIRST TOTALISATOR FIXTURE. HUNT CUP TO NUKUTERE. LAST LAP EST FORM. The Botorua-Bay 01 Plenty Hunt Club's initial totalisator meeting was held at Eotorua on Saturday under ideal weather conditions. There was a fairly good attendance, and the course was in excellent order for this period of the season. The chief event, the Hunt Cup, was won by Nukutere, and another Cambridge candidate Lady Zinnia won two races during tho day. The sum handled by the totalisator amounted to £4510 and should result in a profit for the club. Winner at Long Odds. Bonnie Play and King Fame got most support in the Members' Steeplechase, the winner, Golden England, paying nearly a score. Passing the stand the first time King Fame had charge from Master Albyn, Bonnie Play, Taha and Golden England, tho others being well back. Master Albyn and King Fame wcro in front tho next time round,,with Taha, Golden England and Bonnie Play following. Taha took charge along the back with Master Albyn, Golden England and Bonnie Play next, but in the run home Golden England stayed on best and beat Taha by half a length, with Master Albyn two lengths away. King Fame was fourth; with the others a long way back. Glad Abbey fell early, and Lady Euthern was pulled up. A Favourite Beaten. Grand City was a warm favourite on both machines in the Innovation Hanicap, and Lady Zinnia also got fair support. The favourite began best, and led along the back from Lucky Strike, Lady Zinnia and Tapapa, and he was first into the straight, with Lady Zinnia and Lucky Strike handy. Over the last furlong Lady Zinnia wore Grand City down and won all out by half a length, with Tapapa a length away. >Lucky Strike, Morley and Kingland Tvere next. A Great Finish. London, Glenade and Sir Pathfinder carried the bulk of the money in the Hunters' Hurdles, and in a great finish Glenade beat Sir Pathfinder by a head. The first time past the stand Sir Pathfinder was in charge from Tarrapeen, Silver Division and Glenade, with Grantham close up. There was little change along the back, where Glenade moved up, and was just behind Sir Pathfinder as they turned for home, with Silver Division, Tarrapeen and Grantham following. In a close finish Glenade beat Sir Pathfinder by a head with Silver Division a length away. Tarrapeen and Grantham were next. London fell at the third fence. A Comfortable Win.

Monanui and. Gigantic were best backed in the Masters' Handicap, but Last Lap took charge at the start and was never headed. The order past the stand was Last Lap, Merry Lap, Valpai, Princess Bede and Monanui, and they raced as named along the back, where Gigantic began to improve his position. There was no change into the straight, and Last Lap won comfortably by three lengths from Gigantic, whe finished fast and beat Monanui for second money. Yalpai, Merry Lap and Princess Bede were next. The Hunt Cup. St. Warrigal and Nukutere monopolised betting in the Hunt Gup,'and both paid dividends, though in the reverse order. St. Warrigal took charge early and led past the stand after a round had been covered from Wako King, Nukutere, Prince Rufus and Tarrapeen. The next time round St. Warrigal was 20 lengths ahead of Nukutere, the pair being followed by Wako King and Tarrapeen, with Prince Rufus dropping back. Nukutere headed St. Warrigal crossing the top, and, holding his own in the run home, beat him by two lengths, with Tarrapeen four lengths away. Wako King and Prince Rufus were distanced, and° Coachman ran off at the 6tand double the second time round. The Ladies' Bracelet. London and Golden England were in most demand in the Ladies' Bracelet, the winner Silver Division being at a good price. Kilstar and Lucky Strike, led over the first furlong, when Tapapa ran to the front from London, Lucky Strike, Golden England and Kingsland. Tapapa led into the straight from London, Lucky Strike and Silver Division, and in the run to the judge Silver Division finished best to beat Lucky Strike by half a length, with Golden England a length away. London, Kingsland and Tapapa were next. The Final Event. The meeting concluded with the Huntsman's Handicap, for which Welcome Lu, Last Lap and Monanui were most in request. Lady Zinnia was first out, and along the back was followed by Valpai, Welcome Lu, Last Lap, Monanui and Gigantic. Welcome Lu moved up into second place crossing the top, but otherwise the order was unchanged. Lady Zinnia was first to turn for homo from Valpai, Welcome Lu, Monanui and Gigantic, and in the run home Lady Zinnia held on to win by half a length from Gigantic. Welcome Lu was placed third and Valpai fourth, but Monanui was third, Welcome Lu being about sixth. Additional results are:— HUNTERS' HURDLES of SOsovs. One mile and a half. 2—3—GLENADE, b g.
