PHILISTINES' CLUB.
A large number of members and friends attended the fortnightly gathering of the Philistines' Club on Saturday evening, held in the Amateur Operatic Society's Hall. Mr. Albert Ruesell, the loader of the community singing, was chairman, and was accompanied by Mrs. Russell, who wore a gown of opal blue taffeta, banded in gold lame. The arts queen, Miss Joyce Wright, was also presented to the guests. A programme of outstanding merit was contributed by Mrs. Harold King, Misses Ruth Scott, Johnston, Messrs. J. F. Montague, Henderson, W. Russell-Wood, Robert Simmers and Master Taberner. Mrs. McKinney and Miss Nina Scott acted as accompanists. Among those present were: Mesdames J. Bradley, S. Stubbs, E. Eowlds, R. J, Laird, L. Miller, T. W. Murray, O. Boak, W. J. Edwards, Barker, S. Hislop, K. Sinclair, Maxwell, J. Molloy, Misses Myrtle Burns, G. Lcatherbiirow, I. Isemongcr, M. Bedford, F. Bruce, Nonie Wright, Elsie Grattan, Muston, Marie Drysdale, Gweu Warren, Abdullah, L.. Lugtdn, Nichol, Joan Charlton, W. Sargeant, D. Knox, T. Peacocke, Molly Forsyth,'Peggy Cutting and Dorccn' D'Authreau.
