RELIEF TAX.
MORE EXEMPTION REQUIRED. (To the Editor.)
I notice in a recent issue of the Sydney "Bulletin" that a person earning less than £2 a week in New South Wales is not liable t 0 tho above tax. It is time we had at least a reasonable exemption in New Zealand. To cxpect a man earning, say, £50 a year (probably with a wife and family) to pay £3 10/ unemployment taxes from his earnings to help keep someone else is little short of taxation "gone mad" and the sooner such an absurdity is remedied th© better it will be for the good name of the Dominion. There should certainly be an exemption of at least £50 for a single man and £100 for a married man. ° JUNIUS J TOT.
