KAIPARA HOSPITALS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Saturday. At a meeting of the Kaipara Hospital Board to-day, Mr. P. B, Walden presiding, a motion by Mr. E. G. Appleton tliat the salaries of the medical superintendent and the anaesthetist be reduced by 5 per cc-nt lapsed for want of a, seconder. The Health Department advised approval of the board's revised estimates for 1933-34, which have been reduced by £085, made possible by a 50 per cent saving in the cost of running the Otamatea Hospital, which closes from September 30 next, and a reduction of £100 in salaries paid at the Northern Wairoa Hospital. The board confirmed the action of the estimates committee in effecting these reductions. Mr. Skelton gave notice to move at the next meeting for the rescission of the resolution relating to the closing of the Otamatea Hospital. Also the rescission of the resolution directing that 'three months' notice of the termination of the enfaffement of the hospital staff be given to take effect on September 30. Seven tenders for the supply of new batteries for the hospital lifting plant M-ccercforrcd-to the Health Department.
