HAMILTON THEATRES

NO DIVIDEND.

A profit of £439 was disclosed in the statement of accounts presented to the annual meeting of Hamilton Theatres, Limited, after providing £1471 for ordinary depreciation and £090 for special depreciation. The chairman, Mr. H. H. Howden, said the directors did not recommend the payment of a dividend. Mr. Howden drew attention to the fact that it was the fourth year in succession that the shareholders had not received any return on their capital. In the first two years £10,000 was spent on the installation of sound equipment, and the general economic conditions were responsible for the fact that no dividend had been paid for the last two years. The fact was, said Mr. Howden, that as far as pictures were concerned, Hamilton was catered for to a far greater extent than the size of the town warranted. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs. John Fuller and R. English were re-elected directors.
