Heavy rain fell during the morning, but just before •the first race the weather cleared, and it remained fine, though dull for the rest of the day. The.course was very heavy, large pools of water lying 011 it in places. The attendance was only moderate, and during the day the sum of £10,040 10/ was handled. Some good racing was witnessed despite the conditions, the finish in the July Handicap being particularly close, heads separating the first four horses. Snow Prince won "both steeplechases, the hack steeplechase by half a head from Xeil, and the Akarana Steeplechase easily by five lengths.

Tho Hack Hurdles. Snow Princc, Piitutalii, Mangu King, and The Hiker were not saddled up for the Waiatarua Hurdle Race, leaving a field of seven. Snow Prince Again. Lucass and Absent were the only -•withdrawals from the Akarana Steeplechase, for which Acervate carried the most money, while Kawini was next fancied, Snow Prince, who won earlier in the day, being at a good price. St.. Warrigal led over the first fence from Snow Prince, and was still in front going over the water jump, followed by Snow Prince, Kawini, Acervate, Neil, Wiltshire and Omeo, the last-named losing his rider at the brush fence near the mile post. Snow Prince and Neil were first into the straight just in front of Kawini, with Acervate next. Snow Prince did best in the run home to win by Pre lengths from Neil, who beat Kawini by ten lengths. Acervate was fourth, about 20 lengths back, while there were big gaps to Wiltshire and St. Warrigal.

A Decisive Win. Seven of the eleven acceptors went to ■ tlio post for the Glendowie Hurdle Race.
