ATHENIAN CLUB.
A large number of guests and members attended the Athenian Club's social gathering on Saturday evening, when Ihe "mystery liight," organised by Mi<s Hazel Rainey and Mr. John Smith, attracted keen interest. k The stage setting presented an Eastern spectacle, an.l included characters from "Mati Hari." The lighting was most effective, and the Orient atmosphere was realistically sustained. Unique favours were distributed during the evening, and competitions caused much amusement. An enjoyable programme was rendered by Mrs. Mary Brett-Neil, Misses Doris Messer, Winifred Ilill, Clare Scale, Messrs. John Smith, Ileg. i'awson ancl lan Stevenson. Mrs. Munro Emanuel received the guests in sapphire blue georgette and lace. Mrs. Rainey wore an Eastern costume. Among those present were: Mesdames A. J. Bonn, C. L. Crump, Wilfred Wright, Clifton Lewis, D. Tremlett, O'Shea, Gilmour, M. Cox, J. Poole, F. C. Robinson, A. J. Elliot, W. Cash, B. Jones, E. A. Carson, W. lietts, Hannah, B. Kissen, (J. Allcoek, A. Boyle, Douglas, Abbott, Curtis, Baghurst, Brooks, Myers, Col will, Phillips, W. Betts, Wallis, B. Jones, A. Jacques, blisses Laura and Tda Walker, Edna Craig, Baker, L. Wood, D. Manuont, B. Warren and Somerville.
