HAMILTON", Sunday.
There was a large attendance last evening at tho annual reunion of the Hamilton Fire Brigade in the social hall at the fire station. The Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, presided.
Mr. R. Girling-Butcher, chief inspector of fire brigades, spoke of the high degree of efficiency attained by the Hamilton brigade, and said that the low percentage of loss by fire was due to the watchfulness and promptness of the brigade.
The Minister o/ Internal Affairs, Hon. J. A. Young, said Hamilton was fortunate in having a brigade which was highly efficient, and one which was run at a very reasonable cost.
The average expenditure on the brigade services for the past 10 years had been approximately £2700 per annum, and the average fire loss less than £5000. For the past two years it had averaged just over £3000.
