NOT FIT TO KEEP DOGS.

The Protection of Animals Act, 1933, provides that any court before which a person is convicted under the Protection of Animals Act, 1911, of an offence of cruelty to a dog may order him to be disqualified for keeping a dog* and for holding or obtaining a dog license for such period as the British Court thinks f.t. If any person who is so disqualified keeps a dog or applies for or obtains a dog license while so disqualified he is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £25 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to both such fine and imprisonment. A number of members of the House of Commons wrote to "The Times" to bring this Act to the notice of magistrates throughout the country and to appeal to them in proper cases to exercise the power given to them by it to disqualify for keeping dogs persons they convict lof cruelty to them.
