COLLAPSE IN MINE.
DEATH AT ROTOWARO. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HUNTLY, this day. An inquest was opened this morning before Mr. F. Harris, coroner, at Huntly concerning the death of John Adams Dodds, aged about 54 years, who collapsed and died in the Rotowaro mine on Tuesday.
Evidence of identification was given by his son William Dodds, who is employed as a shift worker at the Rotowaro carbonisation works. He said his father always enjoyed good health and never complained. On Tuesday he left at 6.45 a.m. to go to his work at the Rotowaro mine and was then in his usual health. He had been working in the mine for the past two months, and, prior to that, was on relief works. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
