St. John the Baptist Church'at Noi'thcotc was tlie first to be established on tlie northern side of the Waitemata Harbour, and the parish at first embraced the whole of the North Shore districts and extended nearly to Whangarei. Now the parish consists of Northcote, Glenlield and Albany, separate parishes having been created "at Devonport, Takapuna and Birkenhead. The vicars included tlie Rev. Mr. Ilcywbod (transferred to Rcinuera'-in lS(ii), the Rev. Mr. Kerr, Archdeacon F. (!. Evans (who recently celebrated at New Plymouth the jubilee of-his ministry in the Anglican Church), tlie Revs. A. L. Hitchcock, It. S. Davies, A. F. Smith, Canon F. W. Young, the Revs. J. Lawrence Greer, A. •T. Beck, P. C. Davis, J. Carew Thomas, T, Southworth, Canon E. J. McFarlafid and the Roy. F. W. Wilkes, The original church building has been enlarged, a hall erected nearby and a vicarage provided. The 74th anniversary was celebrated to-day, and the patronal festival will be the occasion of sppcial services tomorrow. The Primate of New Zealand, Archbishop A. W. Averill, will bo the preacher in the morning and the Rev. IT. K. Archdall, M.A., headmaster of King's College, in the evening.
