CAMP FOR WOMEN.
U.S. EXPERIMENT WITH IDLE,
NEW YORK, June 9.
The first Federal unemployment camp for women and girls is being established at Bear Mountain Park, under a scheme prepared by Mrs. Roosevelt and Frances Perkins, Secretary of Labour. The camp will accommodate 300, who will receive five dollars ( £1 at par) a week, paid by the Federal Government to the State Relief Administration.
For each ten girln there will be a counsellor, paid 15 dollars ( £3). a week. Only able-bodied girls and women who are not married, will bo accepted. Besides the routine of camp duties, they will be given vocational training.
