WORK AT ELLERSLIE.
AN OFF MORNING
NOVICE HURDLERS SCHOOLED.
There was very little doing at Ellersiie this morning. No. 3 grass was available for fast work, but only a couple, of gallops took place. The going was good for this period of the -year.
King March worked over a round, being timed to run his last four furlongs in o'i 3-ss. He was.assisted by Caliente, the panfinishing on terms. King Musk and Morehu ran an easy three furlongs, taking 41 3-ss. Chief Clerk sprinted down tlie straight, hitting out very freely.
United (Lark) was schooled over a couple of pony hurdles twice, giving :i safe display, although he still jumps a bit high.
Alpinus (Olive) also cleared the pony hurdles, making ii satisfactory showing.
Others to do useful tasks were Patutahi, Jewelled Girdle. Catoma, Wee Pat, Neil, Hawthorn, , Deputy Ruler, King Mestor, Taueriri, Tarporley, Gay Mai igold, Master Brierly, Kiltowyn, and Dark Marble. The lastnanied has been at Elleislie since the Great Northern meeting, but is expected to return to Matamata shortly.
