EXCHANGE RATE ALTERATION (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. "Trade is definitely looking up at Home," said 31 r. L. A. Paisli, Brit.it-h Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, who returned to-day after a year's absence from the. Dominion. Wlien lie left England Mr. Paisli said tho unemployment, figures were falling. Tilings were bound to hang lire till after the International Conference, but as soon as that was over one could definitely hope for a period of recovery both for manufacturing and primary producing countries. In regard to the review of the tariff in New Zealand, ho was sure that the recommendations would bo in accordance with the letter and epirit of the Ottawa. Conference. Though that conference did-not do all that everybody wanted, it did make a start, and certainly impressed him as being a very hopeful foundation for future good relations between Xcw Zealand and the Motherland. People at Home <lid not like the exchange rate being altered and had not understood the effect, of the alteration, but he did not think the alteration would havo any prejudicial cffcct on New Zealand credit.
