HUNTING SEASON.
PAKURANGA CLUB. Tho Pakuranga Hunt met at Rar.ginui, Papatoetoe, on Saturday, there being about 40 followers. The conditions were ideal and some excellent spovt was provided. A hare was put up on Mr. F. A. Price's property and took the hunt for a line run across the properties of Messrs. W. Davis and Wills McLaughlin. After getting into some scrub along the foreshore, it again traversed Mr. Davis' land and was killed on Mr. McLaughlin's farm. A second hare covered almost the same country before it was killed. A third hare was started on Mr. Price's land and went across Mr. F. Bell's farm. It later turned in the direction of Puhunui and swani a stream, teaching Mr. McLaughlin's and, where it was killed after a further run of three miles. A fourth hare was raised on Mr. Price's land, but owing to tho scent failing it was impossible to get a good run. Among the followers were:— The master, Mr. 11. MARAMARUA HUNT.
The Maramarua Hunt assembled at the Waerenga Hall on Saturday, and there was an exceptionally large attendance. Hounds were thrown of! on Mr. W. Carter's land, and the quarry took the hunt for a good run before crossing a creek into Mr. S. Carter's land. It then made for high country and was eventually killed on Mr. Gardner's property after another three miles had been covered. Several other good runs followed, but barred country prevented further kills being made. The followers included:— The master, Mr. J. Fagen, on Llewellyn ; the huntsman, Mr. S.
