(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Fivo thousand people watched tlie interprovincial Soccer match for the English trophy between Otago and Wellington, played on the Caledonian ground, which wag' In good order. Tho weather was line, almost without wind. Within live minutes nice combination enabled Cunningham to score Wellington's first goal, but Otago drew level a minute later when Hooper headed the ball into the net from a corner shot. Then Skinner notched another with a nice shot. Cunningham made a good run and passed to McLeod, who was unmarked, and he netted for the visitors. Otago kept Wellington on the defensive, and the visitors had several narrow escapes. The spell ended with the scores Otago 3 Wellington 2

The second spell opened with a Wellington rush to the Otago goal-mouth, but the goalie kicked clear. Wellington continued tho pressure and Cunningham netted from a nlco centre shot, equalising the scores. Wellington at this point were definitely superior, tlieir footwork" being excellent. However, Otago swept downfield and Hopper headed the ball into the net, putting Otago again ahead. Witchall put Otago further in the lead when he landed a splendid goal. Theso successes livened up Otago, and play became fast and exciting and much more even. Wellington narrowly missed scoring when the Otago goalie fell, but the luck was with the defenders. TEAM FROM AUSTRALIA.

PROBABLE N.Z. VISIT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. There Is a possibility of an Australian Soccer team visiting the Dominion in August about a month after the return of the New Zealand team at present touring Australia. A letter making the snggestion was received from the Australian Football Association by Mr. F. Campbell, chairman of the New Zealand Council. While he was unable to commit the council he was inclined to regard the proposal favourably as a quick return visit would undoubtedly be popular in New Zealand and it would offer a good opportunity of recouping the expenses incurred In fitting out the New Zealand team. The proposal will probably come before n special meeting of the committee, on Tuesday. Mr. Campbell said that the proposed tour of Australia by a schoolboys' team was definitely off as none of the affiliated associations was in a position to contribute to the cost.
