SURPLUS OF £40,000.
MINISTER'S ANNOUNCEMENT.
BUOYANCY OF REVENUE,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The audited State accounts for the financial year show an approximate surplus of £40.000. The Minister of Finance, Mr. Coates, save this has been made possible partly by revenue buoyancy totalling £938,000, and partly by economies totalling £112,000. In regard to banks' indemnity under tho Exchange Act, Treasury Bills amounting to £2,555,000 were issued during the year, against.winch redemptions "totalled £478,000. leaving £2,380,000 outstanding at the close of year. Of this £1,910,000 kas been utilised for the purpose of exchange from banks under the provisions of the Act. Of this sum the major portion has been retained in London, but £380,000 was transferred to the public account before March 31, and formed part of the floating cash and investment balances with the Consolidated Fund.
