Mr. L. J. ■ Patrick, until recently manager of the National Bank of New Zealand at Newmarket, has resigned to take up farming. Mr. Spencer Mason returned from Wellington yesterday morning. lie lias been representing the Auckland Aero Club at a conference of the New Zealand Aero Club, of which lie is a vicepresident. Mr. W. A. Veitch, M.P. for Wanganui, will arrive 111 Auckland by the early express on Wednesday morning, and will stay at the Central Hotel. He expects to be in the city for a few days. Inspector P. Harvey, in charge of the Palmerston North police, has been on leave, during which he visited Whangaro.i, where he was formerly stationed. He is at present in Auckland, and leaves to-morrow night on Lis return to Palmerston North. Mr. S. W. M. Stilling, New Zealand representative of the Australian 1 National Travel Association, was a passenger on the Makura, which arrived in Wellington from Sydney to-day. Mr. Stilling was a member of the Australian trade delegation which recently visited the Dutch East Indies in the trade ship Nieuw Holland. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, who has been presiding at the Auckland Supreme Court for the past fortnight, will return to Wellington tomorrow night, and his place on. the" Bench here will be taken by Mr. Justice Reed. It is not expected that Mr. Justice Herdman will return to Auckland until the opening of the next criminal sessions, at the end of next month. Captain T. J. Watts, travelling advisory superintendent and secretary of the United Fire Brigades' Association of New Zealand, returned to Auckland by the Limited express this morning.' He has completed arrangements for the holding of the second examination on June 20 of the New Zealand Fire Brigades' Institute. On that date Captain Watts will go to Wellington to mark the papers in conjunction with Captain T. T. Hugo, who is superintendent of the institute.
