Rector from India Has Narrow
Escape at Sydney.
GRATITUDE TO RESCUERS,
SYDNEY, June 8. The Rev. Frederick Phillip, of India, and his two sons, aged 17 and 14, were bathing in the surf at Bronte to-day when all were carried out to sea and were in danger of drowning. The plight of the was noticed by two members of the local Life Saving Club, one of 'whom, Mr. Keith Hudson, stripped, donned a belt and swam out in the heavy sea and rescued them. Later ho resuscitated them on the beach. Mr. Phillip is rector of the Anglican Grammar School, at Hyderabad. He expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Hudson and his companion, who manned the reel.

The Imperial Fruit Show challenge cups were awarded as follows:—Best Australian exhibit, George Simpson, West Australia, with Granny Smiths; best Tasmanian, W. and H. Calvert, Cleopatras; best New Zealand, E. H. Turner, Otago, Jonathans.
