FIRST REP. MATCH.

AUCKLAND V. TARANAKI

AT CARLAW PARK TO-MORROW,

The first representative match of the Auckland Rugby League season will be staged at Carlaw Park to-morrow afternoon, when Auckland will meet laranaki. A deal of interest is being taken locally in the reappearance after many years oi a Taranaki rep. side in League football. According to advice from New Plymouth the yellow and black side is a very stiong combination, with keen youth the prevailing feature. The average weight of the backs and forwards is 11 stone and 12 stone respectively, while the average age is about 24 years. Five of the seven backs have been playing together; during the season for the Inglewood side, so the understanding of the rear division seems assured. The forwards are a fast and solid set. The Marist players spoke very highly of the ability of the McLeod brothers, who played against them last year, and these two brilliant forwards will be seen in action on Saturday. One of the strongest features of the side is the brilliant tackling ability they possess, and the Auckland players will have to be at their best to survive a defeat at the hands of this young and inspiring combination.
