STOLE A GUITAR.
THEFT FROM RESTAURANT,
The theft of a Spanish guitar, valued at £4, on May 17, was admitted, by Vincent Jack Sedgley, aged 24, carpenter, who appeared before Mr. W. K. MeKean, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. Detective-Sergeant McHugh eaid Sedgley stole the instrument from a.restaurant on May 17 and sold it for £1. 'After purchasing clothing with this money, he laft for Helensville, where he secured a position on a farm. When seen by the police, he frankly admitted the offeiice. It was not the first time Sedgley had been in trouble. The guitar had been recovered, but there was the sum of £1 due to the dealer. Mr. Aekins, who appeared for accused, said Sedgley had obtained a job and was about "to be married. He had yielded to sudden temptation. If given an opportunity, he would make restitution. - Sedgley was fined £4, and ordered to pay £1, in default one month's imprisonment.
