TOY DOGS.

CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW.

PERSIANS AND POMERANIANS. Persians and Pekingese fraternised in friendly rivalry with Pomeranians and Sydney Silkies in the Auckland Toy Dog Club's twelfth annual show which opened in the Newmarket Municipal Hall to-day. Entries are just ten better than last year, and include 70 dogs and 20 cats. Dogs from as far south as Christchurch and the leading winners of New Zealand, have been carefully combed and brushed to contest the various championships. All sit proudly on soft cushions, which are decorated with gold and blue. The Pomeranian champion of the show is Reid and Hunt's Little Gold Sunshine Billy, a tiny dog with a big reputation and a long pedigree. It recently won fame for itself by being Ridged the best of all breeds at the recent Franklin A. and P. Show. Champion among the Sydney Silkies is Mrs. F. E. Patterson's Pixie Uno. Judging is being continued this afternoon, and the show will close to-morrow. Results are:— Sydney Silkies.—Best dog in show: Mrs. F. E. Patterson 1. Best puppy, either sex: Mrs. H. Harris 1.
