THE MILK SUPPLY.
I take it that "Consumer" knows nothing of farm life. Does he not know that the farmer who supplies town is on dearer land than the man on buttcrfat, and that he has to have practically two herds, with his cows coming in at the worst time of the year? I fail to see how he is better off even if ho does get a little more. Also can he tell me when the surplus milk was ever wasted in Auckland? This is not true. He asks why does the City Council interest itself in the milk "war." Well, in my opinion it can see> far enough ahead to know that if something is not done hi the near future the farmers will have to walk off their farms and there will be a famine in milk. The time has come for us to help one another and have less selfishness in our everyday and public life. G. H. McCALLUM.
