LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

AUCKLAND CONTROL SENIORS AND MID-WEEK PLAY. * INTERPRO VINCI AL MATCH DATES. At the weekly meeting of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, Ponsoiiby and Richmond Clubs wrote objecting to their senior players participating in the Wednesday competition, owing to the possibility of Saturday teams being disorganised [through accident to such players. The chairman stated that the Marist and City Clubs supported the objection. After discussion, it was decided that no senior or reserve grade player be • permitted to take part in the mid-week contests, without the permission of theirclubs, and that the clubs and Wednesday management be advised of this decision. Regarding the programme of interprovincial fixtures to be held this season in Auckland, the match with "Taranaki on June 10 was approved, Mr. Grey Campbell pointing out that as the southern league might desire a return game, an Auckland team may have to be sent to Taranaki in August.

The selectors were instructed to choose twenty players to be announced on Saturday, with a view to the later selection of the Auckland team to oppose Taranaki. The Auckland colours will be blue and white jerseys and white shorts and socks. The junior management is to be asked to provide a first-class curtain-raiser for the Auckland-Taranaki fixture. A date in July is to be suggested to the holders of the Northern Union Cup, South Auckland. The possibility of a fixture with Northland in August or September also was mentioned. The Hawke's Bay League intimated its desire for a match in August or September, and it was resolved to suggest a tentative date. Before finalising a date for a visit by a Wellington team, it was ' decided to await further information, as promised by that league. The Wednesday competition committee was granted permission for tlie use of Carlnw Park for its opening day next Wednesday. On the suggestion of the chairman, it was decided to introduce during the interval of the main Carlaw Park match each Saturday seven-a-side teams of schoolboys. The league, decided to subsidise a special insurance scheme for married senior players up to half the amount of premium. The cover involves accident for 12 months out of working hours. On the application of the Papakura Club, T. Ruki was reinstated, and hie regrade from second to third grade was left to the emergency committee of the junior management. F. Burrows (Oratia) was reinstated to play for Glenora Club. The transfer of N. F. Drew, of Richmond seniors, to Marist Old Boys was granted. Registrations approved were:—W. L. Hunter-, Parnell, to Devonport United, and C. H. Benfell (ex-Fiankton Rugby Union Club) to Newton Rangers. Mr. Rukutai was appointed to officially represent the board at the senior matches at Devonport on Saturday.
