WINTER MEAT.
FOR RELIEF WORKERS. UNEMPLOYMENT BOARD SCHEME. Meat at practically cost price will again be available for relief workers employed by the various local bodies in tlie metropolitan area thi* winter, arrangements for the supply of 4000 carcases of mutton for distribution in the Auckland district having been made by the Unemployment Board. This is estimated to be sufficient for all the unemployed in the area during the winter months. The price will approximate lid a lb—the same, as charged last year. Local bodies are requested to forward their requisitions without delay. It is expressly provided that the meat is exclusively for registered unemployed workers. Local bodies must take delivery ex store. Last winter the board distributed in the Auckland city area 137,4001b of meat and this year a wider field is to be covered. The meat will bo drawn from the Westlield Freezing Co.'s works. The distribution centre "for the city area will be the meat pool depot in Karangaliape Road. The free issue of vegetables from this depot will be continued, but will be issued only to families of men in relief camps.
