In pursuance of the Government's drive against the remnants of organised pacifism, the police, on May 17, while Herr Hitler was making his memorable speech in the Reichstag, visited 100 societies, including the World Peace Union, the Mothers' and Teachers' Unions, and dissolved them, confiscating their property.

Princcss Juliane Zu Stollberg-Werni-gerode, a member of a union, escaped, but her colleague, Ena, Machensauer, was arrested in the Princess' flat, which the policc~tlosed and scaled.
