GREAT COALITION MAJORITY. (Received 11.30 a.m.) CAPETOWN, May 19. Latest official figures in the general election give the Coalitionists 115 seats, Independents seven, and Labour two, but from other messages it is gathered that the state of the parties is as follows: — Coalitionists 133 Independents 9 Labour 2 Natal "Devolutionists" .... 2 Returns outstanding 6 Dr. Malan has retained the Calvinia seat by a substantial majority, and Dr. Steenkemp has held Namaqualand. It is understood that the mines will contribute an extra £7,000,000 from the gold premium to the general revenue. This will enable the Budget to be balanced.
