A duel to the death between two peasant women took place in the village of Koros. The two principals were a married woman of 49, named Elizabeth Balogh, and a beautiful peasant girl of 28. Vilma Koth, also married. Mme. Balogh accused the other of having stolen her husband's Affection, and finally the two agreed to fight out the quarrel with their husbands' military sabres. They met in the fields outside the village, accompanied bv female seconds. The elder woman fell upon her rival with such fury that the latter was killed. Her body bore 48 sabre slashes.
