APPEAL TO LEAGUE.

ANTI-SEMITISM IN GERMANY. (Kcccivod 1.30 p.m.) GENEVA, May 17. A delegation of Jewish associations has petitioned the League against the anti-semitism of Germany, and has requested that the Council be convened. GERMAN CHRISTIANS. UNIFICATION ATTEMPT. BERLIN, May 8. The steps to achieve the "unification of the various Protestant churches in Germany," along the lines indicated in the programme of the liewly'-founded Nazi organisation, the "German Christians," were given the stamp of official approbation when the Chancellor, Herr Hitler, appointed a military chaplain, Dr. Mueller, to conduct the negotiations with the officials of the German Evangelical Church Union. 11l an appeal issued immediately after his appointment, Dr. Mueller said that the "German Christians," as well as the Protestant Church authorities, were aiming at an established National Evangelical Church, and that this Church must now be built "conformably with the principles enunciated by our forefathers at the Reformation." Rumours that Herr Hitler, who was born a Catholic, intended to secede, and become Protestant, are denied as being entirely without foundation. The newly-elected Prussian State Council, whose functions are to advise the Diet and the Government, met, and, after an opening address by the Premier, Captain Goering, elected three Nazis, Herren Ley, Treff and Wagner, as president and vice-presidents. The council then adjourned till May 30.
