Sii* James Parr is in Auckland at Hotel Cargen. Captain and Mrs. Clinton Greig and Major and Mrs. R. Wright, of Tauranga, are at the Station Hotel. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Mr. D. M. Eae, principal of the Auckland Training College, left for the South by the Limited last night. Captain V. G. Webb, marine superintendent of the Union Steam Ship Company, has left on a business visit to Sydney. Mr. H. W. Milner, Dominion secretary of the Sudan United Mission, who has been visiting Auckland, left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. G. McNamara, Secretary to the Post and Telegraph Department, who arrived in Auckland yesterday morning, will return south by the Limited tomorrow night. Major P. H. Bell, D.5.0., staff officer in charge of No. 4 Regimental District, Hamilton, has received notice of his transfer to the charge of No. 1 District at Auckland. He will take up his new duties on June 1. Colonel W. D. Holgate and Mr. A. J. Parker were re-elected unopposed to the directorate of Taupiri Coal Mines, Ltd., at the 34tli annual meeting of the company yesterday afternoon. Reference was made to the fact that the chairman, Hon. E. W. Alison, had held the chairmanship continuously for 33 years. Mr. C. B. Eedwood, deputy-general manager of the State Fire and Accident Insurance Company, Ltd., is retiring on superannuation owing to ill-health. He was farewelled by the head office, Wellington, this week, when Mr. P. Verschaffelt, Public Service Commissioner, attended. The general manager, Mr. J. H. Jerram, made a presentation on behalf of the Department throughout the Dominion.
