PIOPIO DOG TRIALS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TE KUITI, Wednesday. The annual trials of the Piopio Collie Club, held in Mr. Chas. Jackson's paddock, were well attended. There were 83 entries. The Judge. Mr. P. McXaughton, of Morrinsville, in his report states that the general work was* good, particularly that of the young competitors. A remarkable penformance was that of a boy of 12. Billy Neal, who gained second place with his dog, Smoke in the long head event. The following are the results:— Long Mead (440 yards).—Mr. Frnser Smith's Highland King, 46 points. 1 : Billy Neal's Smoke. 38J points, 2 ; Air. Bob Ilollis' Loch Lomond, 58 points, 3. There were 23 competitors. Short Ili -d and Yard (350 yards).— Mr. J. 11. MoDoweU's Glen. 54 points. 1; Mr. Bob Ilollis' Loth Lomond, 51 points, 2; Mr. If. Voyce's Tweed, 43 points, 3. Twenty-six entries. ' Huntnway, Short Head, Hold In Ring (about 400 yards).—Mr. Frnser Smith's Highland King, 44 points, 1 ; Mr. Bob Hollis' Tipperary, 42 points, 2 ; Mr. Fraser Smith's Toss, 38 points, 3. Fifteen entries. Standard Huntaway between three sets of. flags (400 yards).—Mr. Fraser Smith's Toss, 43 points, 1 ; Mr. W. S. Park's Bud, 42 points, 2; Mrs. Hollis' Tipperary, 41 points, 3. The gold wristlet presented by Mr. Hollis for a two-dog team nominated by a lady was won by Miss Alnm Baker, Tuakau, who nominated the donor's dogs, Loch Lomond and Tipperary.
