TRIALS AT TE RAPA. MAKE UP AND LUCESS SCHOOL WELL. (By Telegraph.—Special' to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. Considerable interest was shown in the final trials at Te Rapa this morning, when the inside grass was available for fait work. The going was holding. Chang, with a Valkyrian gelding as * companion, came home over half a mile in 535. Chang was not doing his. best. King Ford left five furlongs behind in 1;3, Norval Tea and Tapapa were not extended to cover - five furlongs in 1.10. Sinking Fund, Limex and Beau Irish were associated over six furlongs in 1.20. Cruachan and High Commissioner compassed a circuit in 2.0. Both went well throughout. Tradesman came home from the half-mile in 52 4-ss. Vadpai sprinted the last three furlongs of a round of pace work in 40s. British Columbia and Alloy ran the final three furlongs of their work in 40s. Twenty-four Carat had to be kept at it to be on terms with Kahau at tiie end of five furlongs in 1.7. Silver Wattle had the measure of a King Nassau gelding and Cargen over five furlongs in 1.7. Wilton and Wiltshire were restricted to pace work, with a sprint up the straight. Welcome Lu, Free Air, Allegretto and Phiakuo did pace work over a round. Colossical, who has lightened up after hie trip, was also exercised, bulls in good fettle. There was little between Ruby Meteor and Te Hoia over a bracc 'of fences at the back of the course. Star Comet, who went with them, was beaten off up the straight. Lady Thelma and Roseric went indifferently over a round of the fences. With Lucess and Master Lu as companions Make Up gave an impres? sive display over the steeplechase country. Except for screwing slightly at the first brush his display was faultless. Luce6S went with hini throughout, and also gave a fine exhibition. Master Lu was with the pair for three fences only.
