FLUCTUATIONS IN SHARES. FAIR BUSINESS PASSING. COLONIAL SUGARS DEARER. GILT-EDGES A SHADE EASIER. Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange continues satisfactory, rind a good anmbcr of sales has been put through since last report. There is a slight suggestion of an easier tone in Government stocks, and a parcel of 4 per cents changed hands this morning 5/ cheaper at £100 5/. Subsequently there were buyers from £100 to £100 5/ for the 4 per cents, according to maturity dates, and at £99 10/ for 3%'s. Colonial Sugars confirmed latest strength -with a sale at a new high level. In the banking section a buyer came in for Nationals of New Zealand at £3 10/, and bidders for Unions raised their offers to £7 11/. Guarantee Corporation shares were in demand at 5/. Quotations ex dividend were Taupiri Coals, with buyers at 13/, New Zealand Newspapers sellers at £1 5/6 and Burns, Philp sellers at £2 10/. New Zealand Paper Mills were asked for at £1 5/9. The Noon Call. A slight easing tendency in the market yras noticeable at the noon call. Sales of New Zealand Insurances and New Zealand Breweries were recorded at 3d below recent values, For the former .scrip buyers dropped their limits 3d, but sellers held firm. "Holders of the latter were ready to part with more at 3d above the market price, and this induced buyers to move up. In the gold mining section Nokomais did further business without change in price, and Waihi Grand Junctions were sold at a penny higher, after which bidding was firm on both sides. Auckland Gas were wanted at the price of recent sales, but holders were not xeady to come down. Grey Valleys were stronger, and a rise of 1/ in offers brought in a seller at 17/0.
