SWINE FEVER.
JOHNSONVILLE OUTBREAK. TRENCH-DIGGING DIFFICULTY. (By Telegraph.— Vrcsa Association,) WELLINGTON, Monday. An outbreak of swine fever is reported at Johnsonville, wlierc five farms, one containing , 200 pigs, are affected. The Agriculture Department intends to kill oil iill pigs on the affected farms_, and in the meantime trenches are being dug in preparation for the slaughter of the animate. ]»elief workers at Johnson villcj who, it is understood, are on the istand-down week, Lave refused to dig the trenchee at the ordinary sustenance rates of pay and have asked for ordinary labourers' wages, 13/4 per day. It is also understood that relief workers from the city have been eent to dig the trenches.
