HITLER CAMPAIGN. TRADE UNIONS SUBMIT Breaking Social Democracy's Hold on Workers. MOULD THEM TO HIS WILL. (United P.A.-Electrle Telegraph-Copyright.) (Received 11 a.m.) BERLIN, May 2. The Nazis simultaneously assumed control of trade unions throughout Germany, inaugurating Herr Hitler's campaign to break social democracy's hold on the workers and mould them to his will. Communist journals must submit to Government control. The distribution-of provocative leaflets is banned. Hitler's blow to Socialist trade unions with membership of over 5,00.0,000 was executed with ruthless efficiency. The police and Brown Shirts occupied all trade union buildings, workmen's banks and co-operative stores, and arrested 50 leaders, including the secretary of the Trade Union Federation, Herr Eeipert, a former Minister of Labour, Herr Wissel aud three editors. Extirpate Class Prejudices. In his May Day broadcast the Chancellor appealed for national unity and the abandonment of class prejudices. He outlined the first part of his four years' plan. This consisted of a reduction in the number of the unemployed by public and private initiative in the direction of house repairs and road building by means of compulsory labour. This was not an attack on the proletariat, but was essential to extirpate class prejudices. Consequently, every young German must serve a period of manual labour. This would enable the people to understand each other. Continuing, Herr Hitler said: 'The Nazis desire to unite the people, and if they will not get together we shall have to * force them. The nation must recognise that the idealism of the worker alone enables a nation to live. Compulsory labour will teach people that manual work is no shame, but, on the contrary, honours those who perform it faithfully." Ilerr Hitler concluded with an emotional outburst against the world's persecution of a nation which must retort: "Whatever the world does we will never bow our heads. Our, call for equality will never cease. Germany is not a second-class nation, even if the world says so a thousand times."

SOVIET STATION INTERFERES. (" Times " Cables.) LONDON, May 2. The Berlin correspondent of "The Times" says the Soviet's new 500-kilo-watt wireless station in Moscow, transmitting revolutionary talks in German, seriously "jammed" Herr Hitler's broadcast.

PROPAGANDA OF NAZIS. I PARIS, May 2. The French Government is alarmed at the Nazis' military propaganda. As a result it has secretly circularised prefects and military commanders throughout the country urging their co-opera-tion in stamping out pacifism as "a menace to national defence."
